Drupal: Flexinode vs CCK

When I first read about the Flexinode module…word like “Wow!’ and “Cool!” came to mind. But, when I went to download the module, I learned the it is not being migrated or ported to Drupal 5.x or 6.x. The alternative solution to Flexinode is the Content Construction Kit (CCK). Support for the CCK is being built right into the Drupal CORE.

Based on my research thus far, the CCK is much more flexible, extensible, powerful, and supported— when compared to the Flexinode. For example “…single field can be present in multiple content types, and interesting queries can be performed that span these content types”. c.f. What’s The Difference Between Flexinode and CCK?

If you already have data associated with the Flexinode content type? There is an effort to convert from Flexinode to CC: Importing Data into CCK; this is a work in progress.
